International Accreditation

CIS/WASC Accreditation

Ascot International School (AIS) is currently in the process of gaining accreditation from The Council of International School (CIS) and The Western Association for Schools and Colleges (WASC). The accreditation process has two overall aims:

  • to encourage school improvement and to foster excellence through on-going self-study and peer review

  • to award recognition to those schools that provide an educational programme of high quality which is based upon a clearly defined Philosophy and Objectives, suitable for their unique school population, and which meets the demanding standards drawn up by CIS.

CIS Guide to School Evaluation and Accreditation 7th Edition

Here at AIS we believe that achieving these aims will help to create the ideal learning environment for your child. It is a ten year cyclical process that is constantly evaluating and assisting the school in maintaining academic excellence.

At present AIS has been granted Candidate Status with both CIS and WASC. This means that after an initial visit both organisations have recognised that we are in a position where we can move towards full accreditation. Our preliminary report stated:

‘Ascot (Park Place) International School has a bright future ahead. It is blessed with an aesthetically pleasing campus, dedicated staff, supportive parents and a leadership team experienced in international education and with a clear vision of the direction the school needs to take.’

Preliminary Visit Report March 2006

We are now working towards our ‘Self Study’ and in Term Two 2008, we will undergo a ‘Full Team Visit.’ At this point every aspect of our school will be rated against the CIS Standards for Accreditation. They are divided into the following sections:

1.

Philosophy and Objectives

2.

Curriculum

3.

Governance and Management

4.

Staff

5.

Student Support Services

6.

Resources

7.

Student and Community Life

If successful, we will be granted accreditation and expected to complete a First Progress Report within the first 2 years and a further report after 5 years. These will address any recommendations highlighted by the visiting team.
